Howdy doody! It is once again comic update time!
Last friday I went and saw Odyssey in 70mm and I really enjoyed it! It wasn’t in IMAX but honestly I didn’t mind. Initially I was wary of seeing it due to its nearly 3 hour run time but after hearing others say it didn’t feel it’s length I went screw it since I wanted to get one more movie in for the month to take advantage of AMC A-List and boy was it a rather quick almost 3 hours! Didn’t feel its length!
I also started watching Hiwou War Chronicles on recommendation on blue sky, which I am also enjoying very much! Currently about 11 episodes in. It’s basically mid 19th century Japanese steampunk starring a group of kids and their clockwork mecha. It’s the first TV anime series headed by bones, who’d go off to do full metal alchemist and junk. Aired from 2000-2001 and features cel animation which I love very, very much. It’s also got a nice soundtrack which I’ve been listening to while at work the past few days. Here’s a song for example! The version that’s on crunchyroll is based off a new 4k rescan of the original film reels, so it looks suuuper good! Downside is it’s in crunchyroll jail so who knows if it’ll ever get a bluray release. I sure hope so!
In other news today people from the apartment came by to spray for pests. By virtue of being in a studio apartment there was nowhere to hide Aisha and Gene so as not to get in the poison, so I wound up locking them in my walk-in closet. At first I debated whether to bring them to work in their carriers but I figured they’d be better off staying home, what with being in a familiar environment and having some room to move around. If I took them to work they’d be stuck in their carriers the entire time while people coming and going and most likely approaching them to see and try to pet them. Didn’t want them to have to go through that.

I hope your kitties are ok after the spraying, and that does sound like they wouldn’t enjoy being stuck in their carriers with people trying to approach them and pet them every few minutes…though they might enjoy a change of location for a little while. ^^
Ah, so Miranda is the kind of person who doesn’t hear pronoun usage at all and just carries on with prior assumptions. That’s weirdly common, probably some interesting psychological effect, but also really annoying. I’ve once watched an Outer wilds LP in which the player read out loud a paragraph in which a character was referred to with “they” three times by a friend, but then instantly afterwards continued saying “he”.
As a genderfluid person, I can’t say preferred pronouns is helpful. Last Sunday, I had someone come up to me and ask me “What are your preferred pronouns?” I told them, “No. I don’t do that.” When I’m presenting female you could call me “her” when I’m presenting male you could call me “him.” But I’ve seen far too much drama from people who make it into an issue. If she wants to call Doris “she” it’s probably accurate. He’s calling Doris “they” but this actually outs some of the very issues he’s not trying to get into. Miranda is calling Doris “she” because she has only ever known Doris as a female. This is perfectly fine.
Sure, there are cases like that. People can refer to me with anything, including mixing pronouns within a sentence or whatever, so in such contexts it would be totally fine.
What I meant is people making assumptions and then ignoring all opposing evidence. Since I’m pretty sure that Madison does not know all the exact details, she’s probably guessing and then NOT thinking “Hm, Owen is using ‘they’, maybe that’s the correct one?”. For all she knows, Owen could know it fully. But nobody directly asks anyone, so it’s a bit of a complicated situation. Well, Doris/Kevin wouldn’t really have a clear answer yet anyway.

Stop. I already dislike her. Don’t make me hate her. Taking offense for someone else, specially when the other person shows signs of regret, just makes you look like a jackass.
