    i like the snowstorm

  2. Nirk says:

The snow storm was fun, and you gotta keep making what’s fun to make, not what you’re “forced” to make. Forcing yourself to make something you don’t want only leads to burn out.

  3. Fred Capp says:

I’m not thrilled by pictures of naked people, clothes are ever so much more diverse and interesting. And for those who are otherwise inclined, one can imagine removing them.
And the kids were fun, I’d like to see them come back, however briefly.

I’ll be real, by this point i’m more invested in the stupid plots than the nudity stuff

I wanna see doris finaly crack her egg

  5. Oscar says:

Though I support the idea of writing what you want, not what other people want, I feel I need to clarify a few things (though Pat already knows some of the opinions).

It’s not necessarily the nudity, but the fact that most people came in for the Bodysuit and they’re not getting much of it. The gist of the complaint goes “the author/artist has spent months on the same storyline which has the MC stuck on the bodysuit, while what we want is more bodysuit action”.

I don’t blame Pat because the story constraints don’t help much – Miranda’s trying to work on the Bodysuit but can’t replicate it, and while that happens, you can’t have silly bodysuit tales running around. This all depends on what she wants to do, but I get why the complaint happens and its worth – it’s old fans complaining that they don’t get what they came for, given the concept of wearing an artificial bodysuit/skinsuit of someone else is so rare and so obscure that it won’t really reach mainstream.

Like I said, I can’t control Pat’s creative processes, nor I want to press her, knowing the hardships of creative processes myself, but it’d be nice to have the bodysuits back. The key here is to suggest without pressure, particularly since Pat wants to explore her own story, which is perfectly fine. It’s a case of “why not have both?”, where Doris finally realizes the truth about herself while Miranda cracks the development of bodysuits for people like Angela or Elaine to wear, therefore bringing to the story the potential of the pin-ups.

(In fact, it’d be interesting if Doris transitions in a more traditional way with the help of Angela or Elaine using the skinsuit of a female version of Kevin as a basis, literally helping them with the transition. That could also enable wearing the Bodysuit 23 occasionally, whenever Miranda could need that help.)

So, it’s not just nudity, considering there are many lewd stories around, some very easily accessible. (Bloomin’ Faeries comes to mind, being unapologetically brazen on that.) All I can say is, it’d be nice, but I have no say about what Pat should write or not.

(Technically, people on Patreon do, but that’s another thing.)

Yeah, I get that those who came in for the putting on and taking off action of the bodysuit have been left in the cold since Kevin has been sealed inside. Just that the story I’m telling with Bodysuit 23 is about a particular character and their experience with this one of a kind thing that allowed them to change their gender and their experience with it. Not so much about trying on a bunch of different disguises and whatnot. I feel like a bunch of other people are already doing that sort of story and probably better than what I could do.

Also this guest comic was made in jest by my friend so I wouldn’t take it super seriously. We both happened to have our timetables line up where he was free for once to do a guest comic and my having a week where he could. I asked him to do something with the kids because I wanted to see him draw the goofballs in his style.

      1. Oscar says:

Okay, I can stand behind the guest artist choosing what to do and thus not take it seriously, but I felt it was necessary to clarify.

That said, I put into question (respectfully, of course) that stories about disguises are common. You’ve stated the purpose you’re aiming with your story, and that’s respectable – the worst you can tell to a writer, artist, director or creative of any sort is “don’t do the story you want to write”. Having said that, I have the impression that Bodysuit 23 is one story that brings the concept of flawless disguises – complete with gender experimentation – into the mainstream (or as mainstream as possible for the webcomic media). I do know of some doujin (Gaki-chan comes to mind), but as stated, those are doujin and aren’t translated in an official manner as to say “this is a story whose major topic is the use of bodysuits that allow the wearer to transform into someone else” rather than “this is a story where the use of a bodysuit is a one-off gag or a plot coupon for a specific arc”.

Which is why I could understand the frustration, but not fully acknowledge it. In simpler terms: it’s your story, don’t let anyone tell you what to do with it. I get why people are put off (pun semi-intended) because there’s no suiting content. B23 is one of the few well-known stories that deals with that content, so straying from it may feel like a betrayal, rather than evolution of the concept (gender exploration). However, the story is as important as its visual components, and because it’s your story, you’re not beholden to appeal.

Hopefully this gives the response a more neutral-to-friendly tone so as to not feel you need to defend your decisions.
