Hello, hello, hello! It’s another comic update day!
I’ve been dealing with some arm and wrist issues this past week where they’ve been sore. Mostly my right wrist/arm but also my left. My current theory is that my streaming myself playing Ys VI and IV is the culprit. Or to be more specific, resting my arms against the edge of my desk as I played the games for couple hours at a time and it hurt some nerve in my arms or whatever. It’s made drawing kind of a pain, but if I rest between moments of work I seem to manage.
Gene’s been feeling fine since the last update. No throwing up since. Though I wanna change my assumption of him puking the second time and instead lay the blame on Aisha as I saw her barf up hairballs the day after in a similar fashion to what I found on Wednesday or whenever I came home that one evening. Nothing super serious to worry about.
Meant to go see this Korean animated film called Your Letter on Monday but I wound up staying home and taking a nap instead. Once again a “I get home from work and have to wait a few hours before the movie = I wind up getting tired and don’t feel like going when it comes time” situation. It was a Crunchyroll screening so I bet it’ll be up there in no time.
In other news my copy of Anime Herald Magazine issue #2 came in yesterday and it’s awesome! Something about seeing one of my comics, even if it’s just an ad, in a magazine gave me goosebumps. Almost feels like it’s a legit comic or something. I’d like to try my hand at making a proper printed comic/graphic novel in the future.
And that’s all for this week. I’ll catch y’all next week!

I am not sure if treating him as if he went out of his way to insult or antagonize Doris is the right way. Intent is everything. And didn’t this whole faux pas happen barely a couple hours ago? Let the guy find the right words, then face Doris. Rushed apologies always make things worse.
On the opposite end, not addressing the issue can also be seen as bad.
I do agree that it’s only been a few hours, so there’s still plenty of time before they’d get to that point. But if he didn’t apologize, it would be just as bad as if he rushed one.
We’ll have to see how this plays out.
They are neighbors. He first met Doris while walking his dog. And before Mad Dog Mads dragged him out and assaulted him, he said: “Next time I see Doris I should apologize”.
That could have as well been the next morning. That is why my opinion of her plummeted.
My opinion opinion of her has only gone up.
Yes, it could be next morning. But ASAP is better. Mad is a seize the moment type. Owen preparing to sleep after hurting someone is kinda lousy.
You really prefer to glance over arguments and common sense, don’t you?
This whole arc has been so off. What the heck is going on? Everything is depressing and characters are acting oddly compared to before, there’s the attempt to be seriously serious but then ‘wow guys! look at the funny slapstick! it’s so funny to be violent in a tense situation, right?!’
Owen didn’t do anything wrong in waiting until the morning to apologize. The assumption that Doris might be asleep isn’t a bad one and Doris gave a freaking bat-signal of “give me space” by saying “I can walk”. Madison was funny when she was last in the comic, but during this return, she has been nothing but pushy, bossy and VIOLENT. What kind of friend throws darts anywhere near a friend’s head? She has NOT been helpful and giving the drunk person the role of advice-giver is a hell of a questionable writing choice.
I don’t know what happened to you, Mega, but I’ve been watching the comic deteriorate for a while and finally got the nerve to say something. It’s like you forgot what made Bodysuit 23 fun and entertaining. I hope you’re doing okay and I hope my comment is more insightful than upsetting. Sorry it’s a little bit of a rant, but this has been bothering me for a while.
To be fair Madison has always been aggressive and violent, as seen here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. She’s a cartoonishly violent character who induces chaos whenever she’s around. That shitty childhood friend whom Owen has known since they were little kids and always been together.
I could have just had written it so Owen waited unceremoniously the next day or whatever before apologizing to Doris, but I thought it more fun to have Madison force Owen and speed things up, resulting in the two having a silly chase scene with Owen legit furiously pissed off at her and conclude the tension between Owen and Doris in this chapter instead of dragging it on.
Yeah, this arc has leaned more towards being serious, but I don’t think anyone has been acting that out of character. Just that Doris is having to confront difficult feelings along with dealing with the consequences of their actions like agreeing to be sealed up for six months and being unable to rely on past methods of getting out of these situations.
Tangentially to the discussion being had here, that was a really good slideshow of (violence and) artistic improvement over time. Hell yeah.
The difference between this and all but one of those examples is the tonal whiplash of trying to be serious/dire and funny at the same time and in result failing to do either. Actually, I remember #706 and it bothered me the same way just not as strongly. Dude didn’t deserve that. Maybe a slap, but it sure looked like she straight up killed him.
“…and conclude the tension between Owen and Doris in this chapter instead of dragging it on.”
Come on, don’t act like there were only 2 options when you know there’s always more. You’re better than that.

That’s fair, and I like the idea of Kevin/Doris having to finally realize he/she has been making bad decisions and needs to take responsibility, but you have to be aware that this heavily changes the overall tone and comedic appeal of the comic. The problem isn’t that it’s serious, it’s in HOW you make it serious. There are plenty of ways to do comic relief while more serious topics are being explored, but the more serious or touchy the topic, the more careful you have to be about the comic relief. But overall the more serious tone makes trying to jump to a lighthearted gag much harder to land. Heh, I didn’t mean to make that wordplay when I wrote it. Anyway, hopefully I’m not bothering you too badly. I’ve been following this comic for a looong time, so I do really care about it and I wish you the best.
“Come on, don’t act like there were only 2 options when you know there’s always more. You’re better than that.”
Yes, but I wanted Madison to get involved and be the one to force Owen into action.

Again, yes, but I took my shot.
Anyway I respect your criticism.
I appreciate the respect and I respect you right back. Like I said before, I’ve been following this comic for a long time, I think pretty close to when it started. I want to see it and you succeed so I’m sorry if I got erm…abrasive? I think abrasive is the word I’m looking for. Sorry for being abrasive, just know it comes from a place of caring.
You know, the fact that Owen keeps referring to Doris as a “they” so openly, yet for Madison it keeps flying completely under her radar, it’s oddly accurate to how it goes irl a lot of the time lol
Don’t listen to the haters! Write your characters how you want – comics are the right place for larger than life personalities and slapstick humor. It’s not like it would be so rare in real life for someone to stand on a high horse being pushy and judgmental about a situation they don’t have all the details on.
The comic is better than ever, and I love the evolution of your art style and storytelling. <3
is hard to have a seriuos discussion when the other person is full on drunk, and assaulting you
When she’s right she’s right ;w;
Also NOOOOO I caught up
Also like… People are taking this way too seriously. It’s a cartoon world, there is an ice cream supervillain, I think that magic darts that never hurt anyone is within reason. Fiction allows for heightened storytelling, hyperbole, etc. These aren’t real people, these aren’t real actions. They feel real because it’s written well, but this shot isn’t 1:1 with reality. Vigilantism isn’t great IRL compared to a properly functioning justice system, but people love superheroes.
Media literacy is dying.
Finally someone said it! Thank you
