Now, you may be asking yourself “8? Where’s 7?!” I haven’t drawn it yet.
I’ve basically found myself in a semi-Hell Week this week. My supervisor was already scheduled to not come into work on Monday, which I was prepared for. But then she couldn’t come in on Tuesday either. Nor was she able to come in today. So that left me alone in the art department at work to handle everything. I wound up not having enough time to work on both Patron choice and my choice.
I also had the stupid idea that redrawing a manga page would be easier than drawing something completely original from scratch, what with the groundwork laid down already! EXCEPT IT WASN’T! WHOOPS!
One thing I’ve come to realize with doing this page redraw is that I am not getting as intense emotions to come across as I’d like. I’ve posted the original page over on discord, but when you put the two side by side my version looks as if someone went in and sanded down the edges and intensiveness from the artwork. Then while watching Ryu Knight tonight and going back to previous stuff I’ve drawn, it’s incredibly evident that all my artwork has been lacking in that raw emotion. Where you can see the pain and anguish in someone’s face. Even the silly faces lack that rawness to it that you see in Ito’s artwork. It’s an area that I feel I need to focus on. Part of it is just the lack of detail in my work.
Anywho, despite it sucking at work my supervisor should be back tomorrow. I splurged on my calorie intake and went all out getting a burger and fries, fried pickles, sour gummy worms, and butter garlic pretzels for dinner tonight and snack on while watching anime. I really needed it.
Now to eat nothing but lettuce tomorrow to make up for it.
I may not know what series this page is from, but damn does it have me intrigued!!
