i mean, just because the bodysuits are for espionage, doesn’t mean you can’t sell them for commercial use too. i imagine there would be an extremely high demand for them IRL. from cosplayers who want to take their cosplay to the next level, trans people who can’t really afford to transition and such, furries who want fursuits that aren’t so stuffy and such, or even just regular people who have body issues and want to feel more attractive. there are so many people in the real world, who would absolutely want a bodysuit like these that the company that would sell them would likely be unable to keep up with the demand for a period after starting to sell the bodysuits
You’d imagine so, right? Yet I’ve only seen 3 people over the near-decade I’ve been going to conventions use a silicon bodysuit (usually just the breast area) for cosplay… and they come in all shapes sizes and colours too…
Might be a cost issue… but if you sell them for "5 easy payments of $29.99 and if you order today, we’ll drop the first payment and ship your suit for free. With a money back guarantee if you’re not satisfied," I’d bet they’d sell like hotcakes.
1, cost. I’ve owned a full bodysuit, minus the head, and getting it was a full $500. Add in a mask on top of that and you’re cracking $700 even for the cheap stuff. The expensive, high quality products? $1500 or more. That’s just out of the budget for most people, and in my case is better spent on hormones.
2, trust. The people making these suits are all online and overseas, and it’s quite hard to judge whether the product you pay for is the one you’ll receive unless you’re a referral or repeat customer. I know Roanyer suits are good, but you don’t, I don’t know anything about any of their competitors, and the above mentioned cost means that buying just to try is far too much of an investment. Especially given the trickiness of a return policy.
3, usability. The bigger the suit, the harder it is to wear, in particular to get on and off. They don’t breath, at all, so you’re soaking in sweat even if it’s not that hot out, the seams between the suit and your skin can be pretty obvious and ruin the whole effect, masks don’t move realistically without being glued in place, and even that isn’t perfect, so they’re a clear giveaway, and they stick like crazy even with baby powder. Getting into a suit via the neckhole (most suits don’t use a zipper or have a hole in the back, oddly enough) is a 15 minute strength check even under ideal conditions, and one of my friends who I convinced to try a suit out got rid of theirs because they were worried about getting stuck in it if they weren’t strong enough to get it off.
In conclusion, in order for this technology to even approach what we see in the comic, we’ll need a new, lighter, thinner, less airtight, more slippery, and overall cheaper material to use instead of silicone rubber.
Interdimensional espionage, maybe.
Makes you wonder if the bodysuit can be compatible with other masks, or if a whole new suit needs to be made each time.
heck yes elf girl
Espionage… yes… that’s why they made an elf girl.
Santa needs to know his Elves are working up to his standards somehow…
to spy in convention abviously

I always find it funny when people start lines with # symbols, not expecting markdown support and suddenly the entire text becomes
VERY HUGE AND LOUD!!!
That happened to me once, too.
I didn’t realise # did this. I chat in 3 different places and they each use different commands so I have trouble remembering which they use.
