It’s the first page of chapter 45! Yaaaaay! So, one thing that will probably stand out is that I gave Jade a redesign. Her last appearance was way back in chapter 40, page 706 from all the way back in May of 2023. And her last proper appearance in a speaking role was in chapter 30, which came out in November 2020!
…Jesus, the flow of time is a scary mistress.
So yeah, I wanted to tweak her design some so she stands out a little bit more from everyone else. Biggest change was her eye shape as I didn’t think it felt right for the type of character she was. Hair is mostly the same, though looking more like how I draw now than before. I think her new look turned out alright! But also this might be the last we see of her for years again, so I’m sure the next time she comes around I’ll be changing her look up again.
Also the ramen restaurant is based off a real place called Oni Ramen, which I was invited to by my friend Popcore ( https://bsky.app/profile/popcore.bsky.social ) a few weeks back. It was perfect timing because I knew that I was gonna need to figure out a new restaurant for them to hold the meeting but I wasn’t sure where it was gonna be. Then he shot me a text going “hey I’m gonna be close let’s go get food” and off I went! There’s two locations, on in Deep Ellum and one in Plano but I went to the one up in Plano. The food Miranda is eating was food I had, which I can attest was pretty darn good! Albeit Popcore ordered the takoyaki while I got steamed pork belly bun sandwiches that I didn’t feel like drawing. The ramen I got was the Texas Mazemen ramen, though I swapped the cilantro for leafy greens.
It was like the fourth time I went out for food with Popcore, which had resulted me in trying out more new restaurants than I have had in like the past few years combined. I’m not the most adventurous person in the world, and with how much it costs to go out and eat I don’t bother that often. Especially if I’m by myself. I am satisfied with just going to Walmart and grabbing an 8-piece fried chicken set or making a taco pizza at home. Nothing fancy.
I’ve also fell into the habit the past two weeks now of taking a nap on Tuesday after work and waking up to do a few hours of comic work. Though these days I haven’t bothered even trying to stream myself lest I have to fight Gene the entire time to stop getting onto my PC tower and turning my computer off. Or alternatively lock him in the bathroom where he’ll cry out and be sad and I don’t want to do that to him when he’s just being energetic and wants to have fun. So instead I’ve gone back to the old ritual of putting on Pokemon. I picked up where I left off on Diamond and Pearl season 2 some years back. Eventually I’ll watch the entirety of Pokemon! Or the very least be somewhat aware while I stare at my ipad working.

Genuinely had to rack my brain for a solid 10 minutes trying to remember who the hell “Mr. Spencer” was. It’s been so long since Doris has been referred to with anything other than a first name, in either form. What you said about the flow of time is RIGHT.
I hope you two discuss how Doris potentially being trans affects the results of this entire experiment. As that probably means that you cant expect a cis person to behave the same when put into a bodysuit that has a diffrent anatomical sex compared to that persons agab.
(Also I say “potentially trans” as to mean out of their in universe perspective.)
