Happy “It’s Almost Christmas Means It Wasn’t Christmas” to all who celebrate! Hope y’all are having a great day. This year I’m kicking back at home with Aisha and Gene instead of driving over to see the family. Got a nice nap in and got a pizza in the fridge ready for tomorrow for heating!

“Tojima Wants To Be Kamen Rider” is some good shit. I’m about 10 episodes into it and man do I love it. Personally I’m not into Kamen Rider, or much tokusatsu in general, but I love the intensity that the characters have for their love for the franchise and it making them the people they are today. Also it pulls a Samurai Flamenco by like the second episode which really got me hooked. It’s silly, fun, very dumb, and has some cool action. Check it out!

I also re-upped AMC A-List again and saw Zootopia 2 before that left theaters this weekend. That too I enjoyed a lot, though I felt like it was retreading the same ground at times, like with the twist and such. Which, honestly, wasn’t much of a twist but a “yeah I sorta saw this coming and the movie also acknowledges that, yeah, it’s probably coming.” The antagonists sure are real bastards! There was also a pretty amusing “The Shining” reference during the climax that got a nice chuckle out of me.

This past weekend I went to my friend’s place and finally got to check out this arcade by their place in Lewisville called Push Start Play. Basically one of those barcades that also can host parties with all the games set to free play except the games I give zero shits about and can live without ever playing (ticket games, mobile games turned into arcade games, etc.) We didn’t stick around that long as we hung around there while we waited for her husband to get home and watch some stuff.

They have mother fucking Cliff Hanger there! The laserdisc arcade game in the style of Dragon’s Lair except it uses footage from Lupin the Third Castle of Cagliostro and Secret of Mamo! When I saw that I went “HOOOOOOOLY SHIIIIT!” First time I saw that arcade cabinet was on an old episode of Starcade that aired on G4 back in like 2003. At the time Lupin the Third Part 2 was airing on Adult Swim and I liked it, so when I saw an arcade game using footage I was all “YOOOOOO!” It wasn’t until years later that I finally saw Cagliostro and Mamo, though.

Honestly never thought I would ever see it in real life. Like, it’s not the most well known arcade game in the world, and due to obvious licensing issues there will never be a rerelease of it. I wound up spending most of my time playing that while my friend played some other stuff. One issue was the joystick had issues registering when you pushed up which made the game extra difficult, but during my brief play through I got to where the footage switched to Mamo where the helicopter comes down and starts shooting at Lupin and the gang at that cafe in France.

If you’re in the Dallas/Fort Worth area do go check it out! It’s a really cool relic of a bygone era!
