Maybe it’s just upscaled. I recently compared the 4K release of "Your name" with the regular 1080p version. Result: In some cases their upscaling method works a little bit better than my image editor, but you don’t really get more details. The source footage is not actually in 4K.
To be honest… upscaling of older movies… little cleaning up of degraded immages yeah but won’t work with old material making it up to date with current tech.
They have to get closer to the TV. I thought the exact same when I got my 4k TV until I got way closer and then I could really see the difference… But poor Doris got so excited to really impress Owen and was let down…
