Yes… it’s sad that bathtubs in America are a travesty. For all who love a good real bath the only answer is being rich. Find a hot tub, but it’s not the same zen experience, unless it’s a private one, which requires… yes… rich. For everyone, you must experience a true Japanese bath! They’re the ultimate experience! The average household in Japan has a large bathtub. The average bathroom is the size of a closet. The bathtub might take up half of its space. Decent ones are heated. This allows you to enjoy a bath far longer. You won’t find this in a hotel room, as there is no point for a hotel to provide this feature unless it’s a long stay suite. Bathwater is kept for a week or so! You can heat up the water when you need your bath in a while, or spend a minimal amount of energy keeping the temperature of the water up, much like with a water heater does. Families also share bathwater, and certain family members may bathe together! You might think ‘oh gross’ but it’s very economical. They wash well before entering the bathtub. The bathtub is entirely a relaxation thing. Americans look at bathing as a waste of time but is absolutely necessary to be healthy and look good. So we shower. They look at bathing as a necessary daily experience. Not just for health or cleanliness, for mental health. A good bath is like unto an amazing massage!
