THIS IS IT! THE FIRST POST GOING OUT ON RELEASE DATE TO MEHGAZONE.COM!
If you’re reading from over there, hi! How are you? If you’re reading this over on Patreon and didn’t read my previous posts about it, you could instead be reading this over on my personal website instead which is much easier to check pages out!
Except for high res pages, roughs, and time lapse videos, along with the odd thing here and there. Those will still be on Patreon proper. EVENTUALLY I’ll make pages for high res and roughs over on my website, but I think what I’ll do is have them go to a patreon post where I’ll continuously update with new chapters as they come out. Remember a few years ago when I did a post that had like half the entire comic’s run in zip folders? I’ll do that again except with a NEW post! Basically move hosting and file transfer rates onto patreon’s shoulders instead of my shoulders and incur potential fees for overly large downloads.
Another thing about this post is that it’s also now available to EVERYONE! He y’all non-patrons! What up! We’re two weeks into the future over on this side of things! Here’s the sort of shit you’ve been missing for the past 10 years! Every update has had a corresponding blog post like this that I never bothered posting elsewhere because I’m lazy! So let’s kick things off right!’
Uh.
Check out this PC-98 rendition of a song from Sengoku Rance. It’s pretty neat-o!
Anyway.
I’m going on vacation in next weekend from Friday – Monday to Vermont! It’ll be the first vacation trip I’ve taken since my trip to Japan in 2011 with asshole friend that was a very mixed experience for a variety of reasons that I will not bore you with! Gonna be visiting someone who’s in this very patreon! May even be inside your house! Or even YOU!!!
This means during the week of Thanksgiving there won’t be a a regular comic update because of that. Instead Layers will be busting out a pinup again like some weeks ago. What with all the shit going on recently I decided to take a week off from work for the entirety of thanksgiving, along with having Cooper handle a Kat update for me so I don’t have to deal with that either. A true, honest to god, vacation from ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. No comics! No art! Or if it’s art it’s just goofing around and practicing stuff on my own terms. Maybe writing but that’s more personal stuff I wanna do! Gonna play Ys X! Then visit family for thanksgiving!
Anyway, that’s all for now! Hope y’all enjoy the new Mehgazone.com! Big shout out to https://hand-designed.com/ to transferring and rebuilding the website from square space to wordpress! If you ever need website stuff done definitely check em out! They also do branding stuff too!
Have some well earned off time!
Something seems off with the posting time shown. As soon as I post it says “6 hours ago”.
I’m in Germany, so this might be a time zone thing as I think we are 6 hour ahead of where you are…
Says 6 hours for me too. Dunno why.
Yes, I think the page takes my local time here to determin when it was posted and compares versus your local time. Nothing serious, but maybe tell your web page guy. If true other people from different time zones would have a similar effect…
My first post here, from last week, says 7 days. DaNic’s which came after mine, says 3 weeks. I suspect someone’s clock is off.
Timey test
US Pacific. Shows “1 second”. Germany is 9 hours ahead of here.
This won’t do much good as yours now show “2 weeks ago”, so…
Looks like something every Ice Cream Truck needs.
I’d ask my grandfather about it (He developed the mechanisms that make these trucks work, then went into the business for hisself) but he’s been dead these 50 years.
I mean, scrolls of Speak With Dead aren’t that expensive . . .
No, but hard to come by IRL.
Inside me? Thats ghay. I mean what
I mean no disrespect to Megazone, since I’ve loved this comic from nearly the beginning. That being said, I feel like this arc has been drawn out for so long, with nothing to really show for it. Like I understand that maybe I’m asking too much as a reader for it to move along faster, but we’ve been in snowy Texas for so long, and yet nothing has happened except for some hijinks and stuff with no real progress. Idk, to me it just feels so not worth it at a narrative standpoint. I’m sure there’ll be a point to it, but to me it feels so drawn out unnecessarily.
That’s fair. I didn’t aim for it to be as long as it is when I originally set out to do it and that was before I crashed and had to scale back the number of pages a week due to overworking myself.
The chapter was meant to group together characters who normally would have no reason to get together and see how it goes along with pushing myself artistically to do more action sequences. There is going to be some heavy duty action during the climax of the comic so I needed to get better at it before I reached that point.
Also this is more selfish but this whole chunk of the comic has rekindled my love for making comics and working on Bodysuit 23. Throughout the comic I have dodged doing stuff due to my lack of skills at the time, but this chapter I felt for the first time that I really could accomplish the stuff I’ve always wanted to make. Sure, narrative wise this arc hasn’t done much outside of give more spotlight for underutilized characters (Jesse) and shit but I’ve been having a fucking blast. Once this chapter is done it’ll go back to a more slice of life daily stuff like before.
Personally I’ve been finding this arc a lot of fun.
Same here, I’ve found this arc to be really fun.
I feel much the same, and I’m struggling with that. When I first started reading, I eagerly binged and shared everything up until the most recent comic at the time, which was the start of the snowstorm. I understand from the author’s comments that drawing this arc has been revitalizing, but as a reader, it also feels so far removed from what made the story so interesting and exciting to me before Elaine left. But the reason I’m struggling with this because I’ve done something similar myself with my own creative stuff before, going in totally new directions that I’m sure seemed at whim and all but certainly turned away viewers. So I see both sides of it here. I keep an eye on the comic and will continue to do so. It will take a lot more than one arc to turn me away from a webcomic (tho there are other webcomics I definitely stuck by for way too long)
